The Office of Driver Services administers the State Driver’s License and ID card program and consists of eight sections: Administrative, Issuance, CDL Help, Safety Responsibility, Insurance Verification, Driving Records, Driver Control, and Facial Recognition. (All testing is administered by the Arkansas State Police. Testing is administered by the Arkansas State Police . Issuance Works with the public and state revenue offices concerning driver’s license problems as well as researching for, and assisting law enforcement agencies. Assists our military with extensions or VWP license. CDL Help Assists the general public, state revenue offices, federal agencies, and all other states with the National Database issues for all CDL drivers Safety Responsibility Maintains motor vehicle accident reporting or financial responsibility compliance along with suspension of driver’s license or vehicle registrations for failure to comply with the financial responsibility law. Insurance Verification Monitors the Insurance Verification and Notification Network which is made up of all insurance companies that write insurance on vehicles garaged in Arkansas. Requires monthly updates on insurance coverage and cancellation by each company. Driving Records Maintains traffic violations and accidents on each licensed driver. Updates the Drug and Alcohol database for CDL Drivers. Handles all calls from the general public concerning driving records. Driver Control Identifies and takes appropriate action in dealing with problem drivers which include those who have DUIs, DWIs, excessive traffic violations or are subject to court orders affecting their driving privileges. Facial Recognition Researches and assists Driver Control with fraud and identity theft investigations. Examines records and corrects errors.
